Airplane Room

I saw this cute bedroom on {Thrifty Decor Chick}.
And I was especially drawn to it because the theme was airplanes - and my son's nursery currently has an airplane theme that I plan on carrying as he gets older.  LOVE that silver airplane above!!

Cute little airplane lamp.

I really like how she framed out those pictures on the walls.  It really makes them pop!
And I think it's cool how it's not ALL airplanes everywhere.  It's ok not to get too themey - just a little taste is perfect.
This lamp looks ADORABLE and really easy to make - buttons and ribbon on a lamp shade.  And you could do anything - flowers, cars, butterflies - options are limited to the kinds of buttons available...which is A LOT!
I really like that yellow sign above - I think that's a perfect saying to go in any child's room - or even your spouse's room! :)
But my ALL TIME favorite part of this room is not the perfect navy paint color, or the cute white wainscotting, or all the airplanes, it is this sign.  Come fly with me.  Perfect!!  Check the link at the top for all the details.

Summer Buckets

I just saw this GREAT idea on {My Mix of Six}.  She makes her kids summer buckets and sets them out on the last day of school.  She says:

"Towards the end of the school year as I'm getting excited for summer, the kids start getting a little sad that school is over. Now this makes ME sad because I want them to be as excited as I am for the summer. SOOOO I made these little summer buckets to have on the counter when they get home on the last day of school."

She fills them with swimming suits, candy, brochures of family trips they're going on that summer, flashlights for camping, flip flops, sunglasses, waterballoons, flyers for sports camps etc, stuff from the dollar store...really anything.  And then she and her husband write in a card to each child.  She says:

"My favorite part of this is their letter to each of them about their school year. Both Stephen and I write in the cards. We try to highlight some of their strengths in their various subjects or field trips that we went on this year. It just lets them know how proud we are of them."

Such a cute idea!  Definitely going to have to try this someday.

Sweet Nursery

This is one of the sweetest nurseries I've seen in a while!
LOVE those chocolate walls!! With all the white furniture, it totally works. And if you look close...
They're stenciled! Isn't that cute!! And I love that chandelier!
So sweet.

Character Builders

I just saw an amazing post at {The Lettered Cottage} talking about how to give your home character and make it your own.
This is coming from a person who transformed the above kitchen into the one below.
Amazing, right?! She has some great advice. Check out the link above. And for those of you renting, there are still some things you can do - for her rental character builder advice, {click here}

Outdoor Movies

Part of my dream backyard includes an outdoor movie theater like this one in Potterybarn.

Complete with those huge comfy lounge chairs. I mean, who wouldn't want to watch a movie on that screen...outside...during the summer.

It just looks so fun!

On {Inchmark} I saw a post where they made their own outdoor movie screen using a sheet and some wood.
Perfect!
Love this idea!

Sunshine & Summertime

I'm ready. For those warm days.
And beautiful nights.
Nights you can spend sitting outside.
When it's warm enough to eat outdoors.Days by the lake.
Walking in the green garden. I think it might be here.
Time to go around barefoot.
And spend days in the long grass. I love summer!

Nautical Party

I posted about this cute cake a while ago {here}. Cute huh!?

And I recently found a party to match it at {Love Laughter and Lyrics}.
A nice sign to welcome everyone aboard!
Boats in tissue paper water in barrels as decoration.
Love the use of barrels. Of course - fishies as a snack.
A cute bunting lining the fence. I like the knots tied in between the flags.
I like the way they used party hats to decorate as well...just like a bunting.
Cute little cupcakes!
And of course sailor hats!! Also used as a decoration.
Perfect for a one year old.
And these guys built a boat out of a refrigerator box just so the kids could play in it. I think they liked it. They could have also given each child a real sailor hat like the one in this picture.
Pretty cute.

GlamouRustic Kitchens

I love kitchens that have that rustic, lived-in vibe, but also possess a bit of glamour and beauty.
Love the exposed ceiling beams. Love the comfortable off white color. Love the wood floor. And LOVe the glamorous flowers on the island.
And ps, the undercabinet lighting is to die for. And pps - I think it's a great idea to have a desk in the kitchen.
I love the pops of copper in this kitchen. And the fact that they mixed it right in with the stainless steel makes me happy.
It's a glamorous kitchen with bits of rustic creeping in. Love it!
Seriously! I love copper!
This kitchen has a great lived-in feel to it.
Fireplaces in kitchens are ALWAYS a good idea in my book.
So cozy.
The thing I love most about this kitchen, is those basket drawers you can barely see on the right. Aren't those cute!! They give the kitchen that extra pinch of home. This kitchen sort of epitomizes what I'm talking about. Very glamorous with the white and the chandelier and all the windows, and then they have that rustic table/island to bring in depth. I love it.
This one just looks comfy, doesn't it!?
I really like the exposed beams in this kitchen. As well as the dark wood floors. And that old clock is amazing. Not to mention the lanterns used as pendant lighting - great idea, by the way!

Here's a cozy kitchen with a touch of glamour in that chandelier. Isn't that ceiling great!?

This could quite possibly be my favorite kitchen of all time. All the white cabinets with all that great crown molding give it the glamour, and the deep rust paint color brings in the warmth...as well as that pizza oven. How amazing is that!? LOVE that pot rack. LOVE the humongos butcherblock island. And you can't see from these pictures, but the countertops are copper.

Amazing, right!? I love it!
