Dinosaur Party

First of all, I love the colors of this little 2-year-old's birthday party! I LOVE blue and green.
Loving the idea of dinosaur foot prints leading to their house.
Yummy food table. And so cute. Those are T-rex's on the cupcakes and chocolate bars covered with paper to match the party. They also had straws and hats for everyone. Love how they decorated the tops of these hats! And the cutest cake ever which is just a normal cake with a ribbon and paper bunting strung around it. Such a cute idea!

Pretty Lamp Shade

Love this pretty ruffle lamp shade. Don't you?
If you take a closer look, it's just fabric, or even bias tape stitched down the center with pleats put in every so often in a random pattern.
Then, they probably just glued the strips onto a lamp shade starting at the bottom and overlapping the lower layer just a little with each next layer until reaching the top.
I especially love it on the chandelier. It's pretty huh? Check it out at Lola B's {here} and {here}.

The 12 Eggs of Easter

I saw this idea on my friend Rachel's blog. It's such a cute idea and great way to help remember what Easter is really about. It's a great {Family Home Evening} or {Sharing Time} Activity.

The 12 Eggs of Easter
An Easter Activity for younger kids that allows you to teach the real purpose of Easter in a way that is fun and will keep their attention.
* Number with stickers or a marker 12 plastic Easter eggs (the larger the egg the better).
* Put the following items in the respective eggs:
1. A leaf (real or plastic). If it vaguely resembles a palm branch, all the better.
2. A piece of cloth with a little perfume on it.
3. A piece of tortilla, pita, or bread.
4. A picture of Jesus with children or of a temple.
5. Three dimes.
6. A piece of purple cloth or paper.
7. A cross made out of wood, toothpicks, popsicle sticks, or paper.
8. A nail.
9. A piece of paper that says THE KING OF THE JEWS.
10. A little bundle wrapped in fabric, a baggie, plastic wrap, etc. of spices (cloves would be nice).
11. A stone (rounded would be best).
12. Leave empty.
* If you have a Gospel Art Picture Kit, get these pictures: 223, 225, 227, 228, 230, 232
* The Activity: Hide the eggs either around the house or outside. Have the kids find the 12 eggs and then gather together as a family for the lesson. Have the kids take turns opening the eggs in order. Here are the explanations for the items in each egg as well as a scripture to go along with each item.
1. When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the people waved branches because that's what people used to do when a king walked by. (Mark 11:8-9)
2. Later Jesus had a special dinner with his friends. A women came and poured perfume on His head. This showed that she knew that He was the Christ and she knew that He would die soon. (Mark 14:3)
3. The next day, Jesus had another special meal with His disciples. We call this The Last Supper. This is when the sacrament began. Jesus said that people who followed Him should have bread and wine or water to help them remember Him. (Mark 14:22)
4. Jesus went to a garden to pray. Here, He suffered for our sins. Because He did this for us, we can repent and live in heaven again. (D&C 16:16-19)
5. Judas was supposed to be one of Jesus's special helpers, but instead he helped other men arrest Jesus. He did this because those men paid him money. (Mark 14:10-11)
6. After Jesus was arrested, the soldiers were really mean to Him and made fun of Him. One thing that they did was to put a purple robe on Him. Only kings wore purple robes. They didn't realize that He really was a king. They were just teasing Him because His followers believed he was a king. (Mark 15:16-18)
7. Jesus was crucified. (Mark 15:25)
8. When the soldiers put Jesus on the cross, the pounded nails into His hands and feet. (D&C 6:37)
9. Another thing the soldiers did to make fun of Jesus was to put a sign on the cross that said: THE KING OF THE JEWS. Again they were making fun of Him. They didn't realize that He really was the King of the Jews. (Mark 15:26)
10. After Jesus died, His friends put his body in a tomb. Later some of the women who followed Him came to the tomb to put spices on His body. That was something they did back then when someone died. (Mark 16:1)
11. The tomb had a rock that could roll over the opening to seal it. While the women were walking to the tomb, they wondered how they would get the big stone out of the way. (Mark 16:3-4)
12. When the women got to the tomb, they were amazed to find that the stone had been rolled out of the away and Jesus's body was gone. Then an angel came and told them that "He is risen, He is not here" This egg is empty because Jesus's tomb was empty. He was resurrected after 3 days. (Mark 16:6)
* You may want to share your testimony on the Savior and the Resurrection at this point.

Just seems like a great way to remember what this holiday is all about.

Flower Cupcakes

Remember how I posted about those shamrock cupcakes {here} and said I've seen marshmallows used as flower cupcake toppers as well? Well, marshmallows have to be the easiest way to make the top of a cupcake look pretty!! All you do to get this pretty rounded flower petal look is cut them with scissors. They round on their own, and look so cute. Here are a few pics.
{Betty Crocker} used large marshmallows and cut them into 4 pieces. She says to sprinkle the cut edges with sprinkles to give them those colors. (Do you like how I'm referring to her as a person?) :) Or you could just use colored marshmallows like this example from {taste}. Either way, it's a very cute and SUPER EASY way to make cupcakes look so adorable. I've also seen people cut the marshmallows diagonally to creat leaves...so cute. Try it!

Eggs and Ribbons

Saw this cute Easter Egg centerpiece or decoration idea on {The Hip Hostess}. I'm loving the metallic egg look as well as ribbons tied around Easter Eggs.

I mean, doesn't that bow on the egg look so cute!!? Martha has this tutorial for {Egg Ornaments}. I probably wouldn't spend the time to make them, but I do love the way the ribbons look around the eggs.

Easter Candy Decor

Decorating with Easter candy can be pretty cute. Here are a few fun inspirational images I've found. {The Inspired Room} had this idea:
LOVE that flower centerpiece, but that's another idea all together. I want to focus on the place setting. Those candy eggs are so cute, right?
Not to mention the egg in the wheat grass is adorable!! And what cute springy colors.
Martha Stewart also had some good ideas, as usual. I thought this table was really cute:
LOVE those tulips in the Easter baskets. SO CUTE! And the bowls full of color coordinated candy are adorable.
Saw this idea on {Southern Living} I'm loving the look of a planter down the center of the table. And the buckets full of candy are adorable with the bows and everything. Cute ideas.

Easter Decor

Love these subtle Easter decorations from Potterybarn. Love the clear glass candlesticks and the way those candy eggs look surrounding the candles.
LOVE this easter tree - it's a tradition from Germany, where my family originated. I love this one. it's so pretty. Those branches sure look pretty, too, but some pretty flowers like that smell awful, so if you're going to cut branches and put them in your house like this - which is SO PRETTY! - smell them first. What a cute Easter table setting. A simple gift at each place setting and a few eggs and baskets scattered around.

Passover

A few times growing up my family participated in Passover - even though we're not Jewish. It was a really great experience and we all really enjoyed it. Someday, I'd like to do it with my kids. Martha Stewart explains {The Seder Ritual} really well. As well as {The Seder Dinner} including the order of eating everything and what's said during the dinner. {Here} is a menu for the Seder Diner from Martha.{Here} is what should be on the plates, and {here} are more table setting ideas. If you want to participate this year, Passover starts on Monday - the 29th, and this is traditionally when the Seder Dinner is.

April Fools Food

{Family Fun} has some great ideas for April Fool's Day! Here are my favorites:
How about some pie and cupcakes for dinner?

And some mashed potatoes and fish sticks for dessert?
Don't understand? Take a look at the link at the top for the recipes. Kids would love this!!

Bath Towel Solution

LOVE this idea from Martha Stewart (I think)! Just sew ribbons so they form a loop to the center of one side of your towels. Then, all you need are nobs in your bathroom. And they can be pretty nobs, too. :) No more towel racks, no more folding, no more towels on the floor...because this is seriously easy enough for a kid to hang up! And I think it looks just as good as towels folded perfectly over a towel rack...but honestly how often are towels perfectly folded over a towel rack?? It would be cute to use a different colored ribbon for each kid so each kid has their own towel. :) Love it!

I Spy my ABC's

I saw this great idea on {Obsessively Stitching}

She made an ABC book using fabric with pictures of things that start with each letter.

icecream for "i", moon for "m", you get the idea. I love it!

What a great way to teach your kids the ABC's! Great {Quiet Book} idea, too.

She has a tutorial! Find {part one here} and {part two here}. It looks pretty simple!

And she also has one in a lower case alphabet, {here}. Check her out!! So many good ideas.

Nautical Party

Saw the cutest boy baby shower at {Over Cocktails}.
Love the invitation!
LOVe the way this looks!! Cute little take home gifts with starfish all over them!
I like how they used messages in a bottle as food labels.
Little ships on the tables...
So cute.
And bottles as name place cards and twine as napkin rings.
Love the bunting...it could totally be used during the 4th of July or for any blue party in the future. I also totally love how it's held up by poles stuck in sand in jars on the table!!
This is a great party idea - especially if you already have a lot of sea inspired things. Also a great idea if her nursery is going to have a nautical theme. Your gift could be the decorations. Love it.
