Valentine Breakfast
Cute pancakes, huh? {Martha} just piped regular old pancake mix onto the griddle using pastry bag. Very clever. And the strawberries add a nice touch. I love how they look like a heart when sliced like that. :)Tuesday, February 9, 2010
Heart Strings

I think it's a fun thing your kids could help you make to get in the Valentine's spirit.

Chocolate Heart Cookies

These just make my mouth water. I love peanut butter cookies and with a chocolate heart on top!! Perfection!

Rose Cupcakes
They just look so much prettier than cupcakes frosted with a knife, don't they?? Especially on a silver platter. :)
Perfection! I'm pretty sure all they did was start frosting in the middle of the cupcake - using a big frosting tip and twisted it as they spun around the cupcake until they reached the outside edge. Definitely going to have to try this! Maybe for Valentine's Day!Tuesday, February 2, 2010
Valentine Mailboxes
Saw these and LOVED them! They sell white mail boxes like these at the craft store. Spray paint them pink and then hand paint the flag red...done. You could also put names on them using red stickers or something. So cute. I think it would be fun to have one of these for each family member - so it's not all about giving Valentine's to friends...it's about family, too. :)Monday, February 1, 2010
Fabric Roses
Love this idea from {The Idea Room}. Using the supplies above: a styrofoam hearth, push pins, scissors, and a lot of felt, she cut a bunch of felt circles using a cup as a stencil.
Then she folded the circles in fourths, as shown and pinned them to the heart until it was covered all around.{Blog n' Tell} has a similar tutorial for making long lasting roses.

Valentine's Day Party
I'm in love with this little Valentine's Day party from Potterybarn. I LOVE those little mail pouches on the backs of the chairs - also a great way to arrange seating! Love the cupcakes, love the heart-shaped place mats, love all the red and pink candy. But I especially love this:
Cutest Valentine's Day table runner I've ever seen! They're selling it, of course, but it really looks pretty easy to make using a needle and thread. So CUTE!I also love these Chair Backers
But PB doesn't sell them anymore. However, the lady at {Our Scoop} made some of her own:I think I'd omit the ruffles and add the large stitches and maybe even the name like the PB ones, but she has a great tutorial {here}, if you want to make these cuties.

Valentine Lollipops
Cookie Bouquets...Very cute idea from {Woman's Day}. They're just sugar cookies on a stick. The glasses have foam blocks in them which the cookie pops are stuck into and then, the rest of the glass is filled with sugar. Such a cute centerpiece/take home gift idea!!And you could also make rice crispy pops:
{Skip To My Lou} has a great tutorial for making these cute Valentine treats.
She used a heart cookie pan to shape these rice crispies. Then, she stuck a stick in them, dipped them in chocolate, and covered them with sprinkles. Delish!

Kraft a Superbowl Party
Cheese Football Ingredients:
2 pkg. (8 oz. each) Cream Cheese, softened
1 pkg. (8 oz.) Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
1/2 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
1/2 cup Miracle Whip
2 green onions, chopped
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 pkg. (3 oz.) Bacon Bits
2 Tbsp. pimiento strips
RITZ Crackers
Beat cheeses and dressing with mixer until blended. Add onions and pepper; mix well. Refrigerate several hours. Form into football shape on serving plate; coat with bacon bits. Add pimento strips for "lacing." Serve with crackers.

I also really like these - they remind me of rice crispy treats...only chocolate.
Chocolate Football Bites

6 squares Semi-Sweet Chocolate
1/2 cup light corn syrup
1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
1/2 tsp. vanilla
4 cups cocoa sweetened rice cereal
White decorating gel
Microwave chocolate, corn syrup and butter in large microwaveable bowl on high 2-1/2 min., stirring after 1-1/2 min. Blend in vanilla. Add cereal; mix well. Cool 10 min. Shape into 18 (3-inch-long) football shapes with lightly moistened hands. Place on large sheet of wax paper; cool completely. Use decorating gel to add "lacings" to "footballs." Let stand until gel is firm.

In this case, it's a birthday cake, but it could go both ways, right?! LOVE how she did this frosting. Can't remember where I found it, though.

It's green jello with icing and football figurines on top. Cute, huh? And super easy.

Host a Superbowl Party
I love how their table cloth looks like a football feild. Just get a green table cloth (or make one), sew some ribbon on as lines and iron on those numbers.same little football figurines, just planted in a flat of wheatgrass. So cute, huh!

Lollipop Cookies
Another great idea from {The Idea Room}. These balls of dough may look like playdough due to their fun, bright colors, but they are in fact cookie dough. And they will make a lollipop cookie.Ingredients:
3/4 cup butter, softened
3 ounces cream cheese
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt assorted colors of paste food coloring
24 lollipop sticks
Directions:
In a bowl cream butter, cream cheese and sugar until fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; beat until smooth. In a medium bowl combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add dry ingredients to the creamed mixture. Stir till soft dough forms. Divide dough into fourths. Tint each with a different food color. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for 2 hours. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Working with half of each color, shape dough into 3/4 inch balls and for each cookie place 1 of each color together to form a large ball.
Shape into a 12 inch long roll by rolling with palms of hands into a snake like rope.
Start at one end and coil roll to make a 2 3/4 inch round cookie. Place cookies 3 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Carefully insert lollipop sticks into bottoms of cookies.
Bake cookies for 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool and store in an airtight container. Check out her blog in the link above to see the finished product! They are so cute. A perfect pick me up to a drab winter day! She said her girls loved making them with her. You could also do red and pink ones and make them heart shaped for Valentine's Day. So fun!
