Taco Soup

My Mom was born on Halloween - a pretty fun birthday, if you ask her!  She loved it.  It was always a party!  Unfortunately, her kids didn't always remember it was her birthday, as they were always hopped up on sugar, worried about their costumes, and excited to get out trick or treating...
But, almost every year all of her close friends would come to our house and while one or two parents took everyone trick-or-treating, the rest of the adults would stay and celebrate her birthday.
Huge gatherings were my mom's thing.  She loved having lots of people around.  And since trick-or-treating inevitably started around dinner time, she was often faced with a huge group of people to feed - which she also loved.
Almost every year, Taco Soup was on the menu.  And now, it is pretty much a part of Halloween for me.  The perfect, warm, savory meal to combat against all the cold and sugar.

Here is my favorite

Taco Soup Recipe

1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1 lg. can Campbell's Vegetable Soup (ABC Soup)
1/2 of the above can of water
1 can pinto beans
1 can kidney beans
1 can red beans
2 sm. cans sliced olives
1 sm. jar salsa
1 lg. can tomatoes (or qt. of tomatoes)
1 pkg. taco seasoning
1 can corn

Just brown the meat, drain any fat, then add in all the rest of the ingredients and let it heat up.
This makes a ton of soup!  So, use a big pot.  Our favorite way to serve it is to sprinkle some grated cheese on top, add a dollop of sour cream, and throw in some Frito's for a nice crunch.  Enjoy!

Happy Halloween!

Just a fun, simple Halloween decoration idea...in case you're running short on time or money.  Just tape paper jack-o-lantern faces to blown-up balloons.
Cute, right?

Autumn Party

I love the idea of having an Autumn Party
...not necessarily Halloween...just autumn and all the great things about it.
Love that welcome pumpkin above!!
Decorate with pumpkins.
And I'm really into these autumn vine wrapped old buckets for holding drinks.  Very cute.
And the pumpkins holding chips...or really anything.  Love it.
Throw in a few games...
To add some fun.
Maybe after bobbing for those apples, they could carmelize them. :)
And make sure you serve those wonderful autumn inspired pies.
And you've got yourself a great Autumn Party.
Then just top it off with some great, warm, {Wassil}
Happy Harvest

Kid Friendly Halloween

Here is a very kid oriented party I saw on Kara's Party Ideas.
Loving all these fun food crafts. :)
Especially this owl.
And this thing just looks awesome!
And of course, there are other fun things to do, as well.
Such fun!
And games...
Like pin the face on the jack-o-lantern...
And what's a kid party without a craft?
Cute little ideas.
Check out {Kara's Party Ideas} for all the info.

Sweater Pumpkins

Great idea for some old sweaters...
Turn em into pumpkins.
{Small Fry & Co.} has both a sewing and a no sew version of how to make these!

Fall Cutie Pie

I'm just kind of in love with this.
Learn how to make this cute shirt at {Sewing in No Mans Land
and the adorable belt at {I Am Momma}
She just looks so cute!  I think it would be adorable on an adult as well.  Also, it's the perfect way to dress for fall in a not so cool climate.  Love it!

Vintage Halloween Wreath

I saw this vintage, square, Halloween frame recently, and thought it was super cute!
She made the frame by cutting up pages of an old book with a cute paper cutter, then folding them around the tip of a marker, and attaching them to the frame...which she painted black.
It looks cute alone, doesn't it?  I great decoration for all year.
Supplies for the Halloween emblem in the middle.
She just tore up pages and glued them to a circle, then glued the witch picture on top.

Then, pleated crepe paper around the edge to give it some definition.
And added a "Happy Halloween".
Hung it from the frame with ribbon...
And there you have it.  Super cute Halloween wreath.
Check out {Crafting Chicks} for all the details.

Halloween Party

Just a few fun things from Kara's Party Ideas.
Love these witch hats.  Just chocolate covered sugar cones filled with m&m's and frosted to chocolate cookies.  Very cute.
Also, I love this party bag idea!!  Just cut strips down paper lunch bags, then fill them and put a stick in them, and tie all the strips around the stick with a piece of string.  So cute!  It would be really cute, if that stick was stuck into a caramel apple inside the bag. :)

Amazing Entryway Transformation

Just saw this on {320*Sycamore} and had to share it!
She has a very narrow back entry to her house, that she says always seemed to look like this.  But, it seems to small to do anything with it right?

Look what she did!!!  Painted the walls a gorgeous shade of blue, and replaced the light with a cute little lantern!
Added a skinny little bench, with storage underneath.
And a cute little shelf with numbered hooks and storage on top.
It's beautiful!!  See, even skinny rooms can be beautified!  Check out all the details at {320*Sycamore}
